Rebel Alliance Demands Scalp from Darth Rove

Rebel Alliance Demands Scalp from Darth Rove

Okay, back to Karl Rove and Steven Law’s Conservative Victory Project and their effort to shut down the Tea Party Senate candidates who threaten again to deny Republicans the Senate majority they probably should have won in 2010 and 2012. We thought of doing a post this morning about all the conservatives who are now claiming that Rove is actually no conservative at all. But while this was happening, a whole new part of the drama broke out.

Jonathan Collegio is the Communications Director for American Crossroads, the mega-PAC of which the Conservative Victory Project is an offshoot. This morning Collegio went on WMAL-FM in Washington and made the mistake of calling L. Brent Bozell a “hater.”

If you’re not familiar with Bozell he’s 2nd generation Conservative Movement royalty and one of the more hotheaded and intemperate guy’s out there. He’s spent a lengthy career on the ‘liberal media bias’ beat.

Collegio is now saying he meant ‘hater’ in the sense being an anti- or relentlessly negative. But conservatives, not altogether unreasonably, see this as a codeword for being well … a hater. A racist, anti-this group and that group. And well, like I said, a hater.

And in response Bozell got together a bunch of other conservative luminaries together to pen a letter demanding that Rove fire Collegio.

The letter concludes: “You obviously mean to have a war with conservatives and the Tea Party. Let it start here.”
